We strive to make our events environmentally friendly by identifying potential waste and/or associated greenhouse gas emissions. Our main objective is to reduce energy consumption during our events, reduce the use of waste and non-sustainable resources, as well as reduce travel emissions.


Venue

A major part of organising an event is the choice of venue. We actively engage with venue providers who enable us to reduce our environmental impact through the following means:

  • All waste is recycled where possible, including the oil used in the kitchen and glass/chinaware breakages
  • Limited food waste as much as possible, with left-overs either being reused or donated to local charities where this can safely be done
  • Natural materials are always used in place of plastic, such as bamboo skewers for dining and dried palm leaves for decorations
  • Maximised used of natural lighting in order to reduce electricity usage, energy efficient LED lights used when needed
  • Energy efficient appliances from dishwashers to bathrooms
  • Only Ecolab’s eco friendly certified chemicals in operation


Reduced Paper Use

Minimising the use of paper and moving from print to digital is one of our main goals. 

Our aim is to reduce paper use by more than 90% thanks to the following methods:

  • Our registrations on the day of the event will be made possible through a QR code
  • All the important information and updates, including speaker highlights and session details, is made available via our website
  • Our Agenda will be available to view on a screen in the foyer
  • E-Badging: badges are printed once and and only on arrival, instead of pre-printing all registered attendees
  • Attendees are encouraged to re-use their badge for both days of the event


 

Minimising Our Carbon Footprint

The carbon footprint is another important aspect we have taken into account when organising the conference

  • We encourage our attendees to think about how they can reach our venue. To make it easier for them, we have chosen a central location in the city of Doha with convenient transport links
  • Where possible, local suppliers are used and we keep shipments of conference materials to a minimum thus reducing our carbon footprint     
  • The Euromoney Team, where possible, share transport to and from the event
